SAN DIEGO, CA--Research has confirmed that outcomes improve when students are motivated and engaged in learning. Meeting that challenge is the focus of a new solution where students explore life’s possibilities and create their own learning paths, according to details recently released by EDmin, Inc.
Journeys, the new solution, is learner-centric. Students can take control of the pace, path and context of their learning. They can navigate to course goals and career aspirations through personalized learning maps. In school, educators identify learning destinations and preferred paths for classes. Digital content suited to the students’ individual learning journeys is instantly available.
Each journey shows the learning standards the students need to master. Learning standards are translated into manageable learning concepts that are written in language that is easy for students to understand. These concepts form a mastery-based progression for a class, as well as for longer learning destinations, such as a career. Learning concepts also make it easy for students to go back and review any foundational material they missed, as well as working ahead on upcoming concepts.
“District and school leaders are invited to view the Journeys demo and provide feedback,” said EDmin CEO Peter Sibley. “For more than 20 years we have developed our learning solutions by working closely with educators. Their feedback will continue to drive development of the Journeys solution. Our goal is to maximize human potential by making it easy to improve outcomes.”
To help students identify their career journeys, they can explore many options on interactive learning maps. It’s easy to navigate through 16 career clusters and check out 73 career pathways, including more than 1,800 specific occupations.
In the classroom, teachers can use goals to encourage student engagement. It’s easy to get recommendations for personalized content to support each student’s learning journey. Teachers can also administer assessments and view student self-evaluations on mastery of concepts. Progress can be seen at a glance, with easy switching between standards and learning concepts.
Journeys expands the powerful capabilities of the INFORM Learning System, an enterprise-level educational management solution with role-based insight into student performance.
INFORM is used by school districts of all sizes to manage assessment, access recommendations for resources and generate reports for data analysis.
As part of the INFORM Learning System, Journeys is built on an open platform so it can easily integrate with partner solutions. Sharing the solution through partnerships supports EDmin’s mission of advancing student motivation and achievement for all students.
